POLICE SERVICE NSW, SYDNEY – NSW
The Director was employed full-time in the Police Service for 12½ years, having commenced as a Probationary Constable at the Petersham Police Station and having worked in this capacity for approx 12 months, prior to being promoted to Constable. In 1987, he completed the Tactical Response Group (8-week) course and was promoted shortly after to Constable 1st Class in theTactical Response Group. During this period he received 2 Police Commissioner Commendations for ‘Bravery under Fire’.
In 1992 the Tactical Response Group was dissolved and a new group was formed – being selected into the squad of 60 members called the State Protection Group.
An overview of the most recent positions held and some of the associated Duties and Responsibilities are summarised below:
- Performed numerous tasks during time spent with the Police Service, which required planning and designating tasks, then being involved in the surveillance of offenders, escapees and suspects.
- As Constable 1st Class in the Tactical Response Group (1987-1992), attended numerous sieges, serious assaults, riots and armed hold-ups – being directly involved in the planning and organising of communications, as well as briefing and debriefing.
As Constable 1st Class in the Tactical Response Group (1987-1992), completed numerous Training Courses, as well as being an Instructor in the following areas, namely:
